"I could have had surgery (last season), but according to the doctors, it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was," Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Friday. "It was better off trying not to do anything. It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear. If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."
Roethlisberger said there were times "during practice and games where I didn't feel like I'd be able to walk."
FANTASY ANALYSIS: In the linked article, Roethlisberger says his foot has healed. But if he aggravates the injury, it doesn't sound like he'll play through that pain again. Surgery may keep Big Ben out of action for a considerable amount of time. For fantasy purposes, Roethlisberger is FFToolbox's No. 10 QB. He is in the prime of his career and threw for 3,200 yards in just 12 games last season with a better than 3:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. If he can stay healthy, Roethlisberger could put up career-high numbers.
