The latest housing sector data continue to disappoint. New reports show builders started construction on fewer new homes in April while permits also fell. Housing starts dropped 10.6 percent, the Commerce Department said Tuesday. The bad numbers suggest there is still no rebound for the slumping U.S. housing market.
