Guide to Burien - Dwellings Seattle Real Estate and Property ...

The Olde and New Burien.?Up and coming, affordable?

?the next West Seattle!

Burien is nestled on the Southwest tip of Seattle, and is recognized for its new sense of style, charming surrounding neighborhoods, and strong sense of community. The Olde and New Burien is proud of its continual transformation and gorgeous Puget Sound views. The ?mini-me? of West Seattle, if you will. For the traveler, you are 10 minutes from SeaTac Airport, I-5, and 405. Light Rail is 5 miles away, and you can also be downtown Seattle in 25 minutes by way of (our little hidden secret) Hwy 509.

Seattle Magazine has featured a variety of dining spots, local breweries, and boutique style shopping, all walking distance to each other. Summer concerts in the park, and beach combing at Seahurst Beach is a ritual for locals and tourists alike. The recently new and improved downtown boasts a brand new City Hall, Library and freshly paved streets. Community gathers together throughout the year for street fairs, and seasonal block parties. Local farmers come from all over King County to participate in one of the best Farmers Markets in Seattle. Top rated schools also makes Burien a top contender as families search for a place to call home.

Burien by the numbers:

  • Population 31,336
  • Median home price $282,550
  • Median household income 48,443

Top Rated Burien Public Schools:

  • North Hill Elementary School rated 5
  • Shorewood Elementary School rated 5
  • Cedarhurst Elementary School rated 4
  • Gregory Heights Elementary School rated 4
  • Highline High School rated 4

Private Schools

Okay, let?s talk about my favorite subject, food! One of my favorite Italian Restaurants is Bistro Baffi. Winning best local Italian restaurant on Yelp.com 2 years in a row, Chef Michael will see that every experience is unique and not only does he hand pick all his meats, fish and vegetables for the evening, they make their own cheese and sausage. The rigatoni is too die for. Cozy, romantic, and delicious!

Another favorite is the Tin Room, in the charming vintage style Olde Burien, not only does their menu have a variety of eclectic mouth watering dishes, there is history all around you. The Tin Room was the original Hi-Line Tin Shop from the 1930?s. As you belly up to an antique bar and sip your favorite cocktail, you can feel the nostalgia around you. An ?everybody knows your name? kind of hang out.

Elliot?s Brew House and Restaurant has by far one of the best burgers I have had. Brewers Burger rocks! Walking distance from Olde Burien, sip some of the best seasonal brews at this Seattle favorite.

Next, Shopping! From designer clothes at Howard and Marge?s to my favorite gourmet kitchen store Poggi Bonsi, boutique style shops line the streets of Olde Burien. Eat, drink and shop, what more does a girl need?

For the adventurer:?Seahurst Beach off 146th is one of the favorite tourist and local attractions. The city of Burien has done many improvements to the park area and makes any family picnic a very special event. You will be in awe as you walk the beach and feel the magic of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound and see Mother Nature at her best. Eagles Landing on 149th in the well known Seahurst neighborhood is another remarkable destination, where you feel like you are walking in your own private rain forest. The variety of birds, trees and plants take your breath away as you walk down this easy well maintained trail to the beach. And if the tide is out, watch out or you may get squirt by a gooey duck!

Some of those most desirable neighborhoods in the Burien area would be Normandy Park, Gregory Heights and Seahurst, all which sit in beautiful, lush, tree lined streets, amazing views of the sound depending on location, convenient to I-5, Schools, Highline Hospital, and Shopping. We love our Trader Joes!
